First Look: Nike Air Max 1 Tinker Sketch

Nike and Tinker Hatfield is bringing an original sketch to the public and this time around its a DIY like Nike Air Max 1. The Nike Air Max 1 Tinker Sketch is essentially another one of Tinker Hatfield’s original sketch coming to life. Done in a DIY aesthetic, the Air Max 1 is meant to resemble Tinker’s exact sketch he drew up on paper. Its University Red mudguards and Swooshes on the sides are barely drawn in, while having matching tongue tabs. His signature is spotted on the heels, with “Sketch, Property of Nike, Not For Resale” printed on the on inner lining. Finishing off the design are sketch lines printed on the translucent outsole.

Nike was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and initially operated as a distributor for the Japanese shoemaker Onitasuka Tiger (now known as Asics). It officially became Nike Inc. in 1971.The Nike swoosh was designed by Portland State University student Carolyn Davidson,The slogan “Just Do It” was inspired by serial killer Gary Gilmore, who said “let’s do it” just before he was executed by a firing squad in 1977.
