Back to 1987, Hatfield designed the iconic silhouette with this architectural marvel in mind, as it boasted a unique inside-out aesthetic with its interior tubes taking shape on the outer shell of the structure. Since then Nike’s Air Max 1 has become unquestionably one of the most important shoes. For sneakerheads, Centre Pompidou carries immense significance as well, because it was the muse behind Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1.
Now, two special Air Max 1s — a “By Day” and a “By Night” — are set to release in honor of the structure that inspired the sneaker. With a colorful “By Day” and a mundane “By Night” version set to be included in the drop, both pairs features eye-catching piping graphics to complete the commemoration. Translucent outsoles with even more piping graphics add more character, while a specially-designed 3 P’s logo pays respect to Paris, Pompidou, and pipes.
Release date information hasn’t been revealed yet, but we can see some more detailed look just below and stay tuned for updates.
