Official Images: Nike Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage City Pride

Expanding on Nike’s “City Pride” Collection, the Swoosh is set to release a brand new color options of the Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage silhouette paying homage to the city of Chicago. Nike gives the Blazer Mid ’77 a Chicago update, with a cream upper and black and red swoosh in homage to vintage Cubs uniforms. Baseball-style sticthing on the tongue and a green sockliner finish off the sneaker.
Look for the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 Vintage City Pride to release on May 3rd at select retailers and Nike.com for the retail price of $110.

 

Nike was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports and initially operated as a distributor for the Japanese shoemaker Onitasuka Tiger (now known as Asics). It officially became Nike Inc. in 1971.The Nike swoosh was designed by Portland State University student Carolyn Davidson,The slogan “Just Do It” was inspired by serial killer Gary Gilmore, who said “let’s do it” just before he was executed by a firing squad in 1977.
