Nordstrom VP of Creative Projects Olivia Kim and Nike teamed up to launch the “No Cover” collection, including the Air Max 98.Olivia Kim is a native New Yorker who came of age in the ‘90s, the design of this pair was inspired by the culture of the time.
For this special-edition Nike Air Max 98‘s Red-Green-Yellow upper, inspiration came from the dancehall music and Jamaican cultural influences that permeated NYC in the ’90s. The color gradient borrows from the Air Max 120, which was first released in 1998, giving the sneaker an added vibrancy and an additional nod to the ’90s. Accented by reflective details on the toe box and upper, this AM 98 is elevated to represent the essence of the city’s Rastafarian community.
