In its 51st year, Vans has decided to bring even more retro and backdoor Originals to its fans. This collection not only pays homage to Vans’ first plant and store in Anaheim, California, but also brings back more details from the American era.
Now two years into its successful Anaheim Factory line, Vans has brought a whole new line of shoes with it as the weather has warmed. This season, based on Style 73 DX, Authentic 44 DX and Old Skool 36 DX, Vans designed several pairs of new shoes with different colors, elaborately carved details: comfortable UltraCush insole and outsole edge with more top bag, trying to restore the details of the American production period.
In THE days when Vans still had numbered shoes, there was a pair named Style #73 that accompanied THE previously unheard of Vans Flying -v side stripe. It was also distinguished by THE high quality of THE body and THE woven label “OFF THE WALL” that gave THE Style #73 a distinctive retro sporty feel.
Last year, the first collaboration between brooklyn creative agency LQQK and the Vans Vault featured Style #73 and three pairs of co-branded shoes. This spring, Vans’ Anaheim Factory picked up this very special pair of shoes again and brought three new pairs of “original” Style 73 DX shoes.
This time, Vans introduces the classic checkered pattern into Authentic 44 DX and presents it in blue, white, red and white. The body of the shoe is made of 10-ounce heavy canvas, details such as shoelaces, stitching and outsole hem are outlined in white, and the collar of the two pairs of shoes USES the same red and blue piping as the body.
