BILLY’s, who recently announced his exclusive ownership of a new line of Vans Style 36 trendy Japanese stores, has been given an update: BILLY’s will continue to dominate the Japanese market for Vans’ Retro Skate spring collection. Retro Skate, as its name suggests, is a collection full of Retro Skate styles.
The whole series includes Era, Lampin and sk8-mid, with 5 different styles. Material, Lampin body covered suede, sk8-mid before and after suede, side canvas, Era is the only pair of canvas shoes. In terms of color, Vans has recombined the very toxic ‘black/purple’ and ‘blue/yellow’ hues that previous skaters have favored, though the Era has only introduced black and purple.
Of the three, only the Vans Era was one of the most common classics. Sk8-mid Lampin is a 1993 pair of Vans shoes designed for skateboarding. Although far less well known than the first two, the semi-circular curved lines on each side of the shoe are very recognisable.
As a series of shoes named after “skateboard”, the details of the three pairs of shoes are in place: Lampin and Era are reinforced with metal shoelace holes to varying degrees; sk8-mid tongue mark is changed according to different colors; the back of the outsole edge of Lampin is also reinforced… Unfortunately, the entire collection didn’t come out of Pro Skate.
Vans “Retro Skate” spring 2019 collection is available exclusively at BILLY’s stores. Lampin is priced at 10,260 yen, article no. : VN0A38FIVQ9; Sk8-mid 9180 yen, item no. : VN0A3WM3VP7, Era 6480 yen, item no. : VN0A38FRVP7.
