The Vans Vault premium line introduced the concept of “Bricolage” this spring to launch a new line. This series has changed the two classic Slip-On and Sk8-Hi shoes in the history of the brand.
“Bricolage” refers to the “re-assembly of existing materials”, from which it is not difficult to understand its “deconstruction and reorganization” nature. As a result, the shoes of Slip-On and Sk8-Hi, which were launched in the deconstruction series last year, are now “re-designed from scratch” and deconstructed.
The slip-on Bricolage LX and sk8-hi Bricolage LX don’t look at all like their deconstructed predecessors. The body is stripped down to a circular module sewn in with stitches at random places – echoing the name “Bricolage”, where the material is cut from various parts of the body.
With a few minor changes, the classic linos-on and sk8-hi silhouetted were still clearly discernible, but the Vans Vault did not retain many notable details: sk8-hi’s tongue and the insides of the slipper-on were “inside-out”, exposing the hidden inner structure. The prototype module is sewn with jagged rough sewing thread. 3d embossed “Off The Wall” heel tag…
The original “Bricolage” series was launched in two classic colors: black grey and all-white. Then the Vans Vault used the historic palm beach motifs to create a more realistic and three-dimensional look with embroidery. Earlier this month, the Vans Vault added plush, hand-comfortable chenille special textures to canvas and suede shoes to create a checker board.
