Last year, Vans Vault’s high-end offline “Cut & Paste” deconstructed the line with great success, which strengthened Vans’ confidence. Not only will Vans Classics Classics bring a “deconstructed collection” for more people to buy, but CAP LX will also be introduced at the top of the line for a long time to come. A new pair of Old Skool CAP LX was unveiled today.
In the previous “Cut & Paste” deconstruction series, Vans shoe designer created sk8-hi CAP LX and slipon-cap LX with an in-depth understanding of their classic shoes combined with the deconstruction concept. This time it was the Old Skool, another popular pair, that was dismantled and pieced together, and Vans took a big swing at it:
Old Skool keeps the classic suede material before and after, but USES more rough long suede, and extends to the “seagull line” position on the side, and adds several breathable punching holes. The highly recognizable Sidestripe was suspended and only secured by the Vans logo. The lacing aperture piece of outboard can double deck consolidate, and inside USES elastic belt to replace. The entire outsole is completely upside-down with the waterline near the sole and the heel label “upside-down.”
The body also had a lot of detail to chew on, followed by the Vans Logo label, which had been sewn into the “PLEASE TEAR HERE” with serrated thread, on the tongue as usual. Two pairs of “pull rings” were added to the back parts of the shoe body. The Vans’ iconic checkerboard pattern is barely visible on the inside canvas; Shoe collar part is cut directly, let sponge outside leakage.
The two new Vans Vault Old Skool CAP LX will debut at the Vans Vault store on March 1. The first color palette will include black and white classics and will cost $100
